1470 Anno Domino: Iberia is a mixture of several countries and cultures, primarily Christian with Nasrid Muslims in the south. Think of the Alhambra in Granada, the union of Isabella and Ferdinand, the War of Castilian Succession, etc.
An angel and a fallen angel had been lovers before Creation. Then the war in heaven happened. They found a way to get together in mortal form and do the impossible—create a child. Then they had to hide her, and it worked for a time until the hosts of heaven and hell came looking for this child. Messiah, AntiChrist, or something else? No one knew for certain.
There was a battle at an abbey all of you mortals were visiting. You saw Jesus Christ decapitate some demon knights with a wave of his hand. The rest is a blur though you're fairly certain ArchAngel Michael is even scarier when he's angry.
Somehow you all got out of there alive and somehow you all agreed to protect the child, Esperanza, with your lives. You had a blessed relic that hid you all from divine and demonic detection but it's only good until Esperanza's 10th birthday. Time is just about up but you all have a plan. Well, a partial plan that involves a scholar and some tablets related to the Book of Enoch. The rest you'll figure out through reflection and prayer.
The mechanics are 7th edition CDA but the setting is modeled on Aquelarre, the number one RPG in Spain. It's dark, medieval, and supernatural. Those who wield magic are usually religious. Not those stupid games where all the Christian priests are angry idiots who don't know any magic while some pagan Viking knows the full score. You get the idea.
Some of you have guardian angels protecting you which is a mechanic. That should tell you more than enough about Aquelarre but if not you're just going to have to sign up to learn more.
Triggers: every character is religious - i.e. mostly Catholic with maybe one Muslim and maybe one Jew. I need to double-check that I do those two religions justice for the period. Be ready to play accordingly. A heroic TPK is probable.
NOTE: this is a replacement of that KAP feast game I mentioned to some of you. I will still bring three bottles of red wine.
GMs IN-ROOM COVID PROTOCOLS: Be responsible.
